Review HTC Windows Phone 8X »
HTC is launching two new Windows 8 phones: Windows Phone 8X and 8S.

The Windows Phone 8X is powered by a dual core 1.5 GHz processor and has 16GB of storage memory.

The 8X has a 4.3-inch SuperLCD 2 720p display made from Gorilla Glass 2, and its body is cased in colorful monochrome unibody polycarbonate. The 8X is about 10mm thin, but it is on the thicker side compared to two other high-end best-selling phones: the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.

The Windows Phone 8X comes with an 8MP camera with ultra-wide angle lens. HTC promises an "amazing" camera that shoots 1080p video. While the details and quality of the camera unit will not be clear until an actual picture is taken, it should take reasonably good pictures that are comparable to its competitors.

On the front, the Windows Phone 8X has a 2.1MP 1080p capable camera with an 88-degree viewing angle. Video chatting via Skype would send pictures with much wider view.

The smaller sibling, Windows Phone 8S, has a slower processor (a dual-core 1 GHz processor), smaller screen (4-inch SuperLCD Gorilla Glass), smaller storage (4 GB), and a basic camera (5MP rear camera), all in a two-tone polycarbonate casing.

Both 8X and 8S will become available later this year after Microsoft launches the Windows 8 operating system.
