Sony introduced a mini version of the outstanding Xperia Z1 mobile phone, and it is not stripped down like other manufacturers' mini versions of their flagship phones.
The only deficient factor of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact seems to be the screen size and the resolution. Instead of the Full HD 5-inch display used in the Xperia Z1, the Z1 Compact uses a 4.3 inch display with 1280x720 resolution. But some folks may prefer the smaller size display, so it is difficult to say that the smaller display is a deficiency, but rather a preference. The display quality on the 4.3 inch screen is outstanding, with Sony's own TRILUMINOS and X-Reality technologies. It is one of the best rendering non-FHD displays available.
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that powers the regular Z1, and comes with the same quality camera, which Sony claims to be the best in a mobile device. Same memory spec supports the system, with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage with miscroSD up to 64GB. The form factor is still waterproof and dust resistant (IP55 and IP58), and in fact, Sony added more color choices (white, pink and yellow) to the Z1 Compact lineup.
Many argued that the Sony Xperia Z1 was the best smartphone in the market, but the Xperia Z1 Compact may take the crown for most one-hand phone users. If anyone needs to switch from Apple to Android, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact may be the phone to do so without sacrificing much.
